THE HELLINIC POLYMER SOCIETY
Prof. Anastasios Dondos, at the National Hellenic Research Foundation, and Prof Manolis Kampouris, at the National Technical University of Athens, can be considered as the pioneers of Polymer Science in Greece. Then, Prof. Nikos Hadjichristidis founded his research group at the University of Athens in 1973. At the same time, Prof. Nikos Kalfoglou began his activity at the University of Patras.

Today there are more than 100 senior research members in Greece involved in research on Polymer Science at Universities, Research Centers and Industry. There are a significant number of post-graduate programs on polymers and other related topics whereas a significant number of the research papers are being published in high impact international journals.

Network of Polymer Groups in Greece:
A comprehensive guide with the activities of all Greek groups working on Polymers was edited and used as a roadmap of the available activities and infrastructure in Greece.

Attempts for Formation of The Greek Polymer Institute:
In 1990, the Athens Academy was considering the case to support, in collaboration with the Greek Industry, an Institute of Polymers.
